TECHNOLOGY FEE FUNDS

PURPOSE
Students enrolled in the Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College (NLTCC)
contribute to a Student Technology Fee Program fee each semester, referred to as
Technology Fees. The Technology Fees assist with all major technology efforts of the
Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College that are designed to enhance the
learning process for students
SCOPE AND APPLICABILITY
Technology fees collected by NLTCC will be used for the purpose of enhancing instruction
and improving the infrastructure and technical capacity of the NLTCC. The term "technology
"or technologies " includes, but is not limited to, instructional and laboratory equipment, as
well as the computer and telecommunications infrastructure necessary to support these
activities.
STRATEGIC GOALS
1. Enhancing Student Access to Technology
a. Provide public-access computers with software and internet connectivity
b. Maintain state-of the art multimedia classroom and instructional labs
c. Improve access to campus networks, including wireless internet
2. Enabling students and Faculty to make use of technology resources for learning and
teaching
CRITERIA FOR PROPOSALS
Money collected by the NLTCC as Technology Fees may be used for expenses that fit
within the following:
1. Maintenance and/or replacement of NLTCC owned laptop or desktop computers used by students in the instructional process
2. Addition of computer labs, other instructional technology such as video instruction and the electronic classroom and the lab personnel for such labs
3. Equipment such as imaging equipment, copiers, toner, printing in support of instruction, smart cards, e-mail accounts, web access, etc.
4. Maintenance, repair, expansion, and support of network infrastructure
5. Increased access to state-of-the-art software, web-based learning tools, communication, and interactive programs, etc.
6. Increased access to the campus network and internet resources
7. Other technology related needs recommended by Information Technology Committee and approved by the Leadership team.
Purchases utilizing the Technology Fee Fund may be initiated from multiple areas within the
college. Approval from the Campus Information Technology Committee shall be obtained
from any items affecting network access, expansion, storage, recovery, and/or replacement.
Requisitions for Technology Fee expenditures shall be reviewed by the Vice Chancellor of
Finance and Administration to ensure the expense is aligned with the criteria outlined above
and in compliance with the college’s technology needs required to support students and/or
the instructional processes.

The NLTCC Technology Fee Council will:
1) Evaluate Information Technology needs, requests, proposals
2) Provide written plan outlining recommendations for fiscal year Technology Fee expenses
