Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College is proud to recognize Russell Martin, a dually enrolled high school student, for earning a Gold Medal in Welding Sculpture.

Martin’s achievement highlights both his technical skill and creativity, demonstrating the depth of talent being developed through NLTCC’s hands on training programs. Welding sculpture requires precision, vision, and the ability to apply foundational welding techniques in a more artistic and conceptual way, all of which Martin displayed in his award-winning work.

“Russell has shown a strong work ethic and a natural ability to take what he’s learned in the shop and push it further,” said his welding instructor, Mr. Perryman.

For Martin, the recognition is a reflection of his dedication and growth. “To me, this means that all my hard work has paid off. It has really boosted my confidence in the field,” he said. “So far, I’ve loved coming to NLTCC. The instructors are fantastic. After I graduate, I’d love to work pipeline and chase money on the road.”

Dual enrollment students at NLTCC have the opportunity to gain real world skills while still in high school, preparing them for immediate entry into the workforce or continued technical education. Achievements like Martin’s reflect the impact of early exposure to industry level training and instruction.

NLTCC congratulates Russell Martin on this accomplishment and looks forward to seeing his continued success in the field.
