Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College is helping prepare individuals for careers in the skilled trades through EMPWR Electrical, a workforce training program offered June 15th through August 7th at the Minden campus.

The short-term training program is designed to provide students with foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in electrical systems while also building the professional skills needed to succeed in today's competitive global workforce.

Students will receive instruction in electrical safety, OSHA awareness, tool identification and usage, basic circuitry, wire pulling, blueprint reading, conduit bending, and more. In addition to technical training, participants will develop workplace skills such as teamwork, communication, professionalism, and workplace readiness. Students who successfully complete the program will earn multiple industry recognized credentials and have the opportunity to interview with employers.

"Skilled trades continue to be in high demand across Louisiana and the nation," said Antonio Hearn, Associate Vice Chancellor of Strategic Enrollment Management. "This program provides participants with the opportunity to gain valuable technical skills and industry credentials."

Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at NLTCC's Minden campus, located at 9500 Industrial Drive. The cost of the program is $3,300, and scholarship opportunities are available for eligible students.
