Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College (NLTCC) is proud to announce a $27,000 donation from Fire Tech Systems, Inc. to the NLTCC Foundation in support of Project Rebuild to Rise, a campus development initiative for the Shreveport campus.

A check presentation was held on Wednesday, July 8th, at 12:00 p.m. on the Shreveport campus. Representatives from Fire Tech Systems, Inc. joined NLTCC leadership and staff to recognize the contribution and thank the company for its investment in the college.

“We’re honored to receive this gift from Fire Tech Systems, Inc.,” said Dr. Jayda Spillers, Chancellor of NLTCC. “We’re thankful for their partnership and their belief in our mission. Gifts like this are crucial to Project Rebuild to Rise as NLTCC works to modernize the Shreveport campus and create spaces that better serve our students, faculty, and the community.”

Linda Biernacki, founder of Fire Tech Systems, Inc. and an NLTCC alumna, shared that her own experience at the college helped shape her career and the future of her company.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to support Dr. Jayda Spillers, Chancellor of Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College, and Project Rebuild to Rise through our donation.

Pursuing a college education was not financially attainable for me through traditional means. However, I was fortunate to enroll at NLTCC through the CETA (Comprehensive Employment and Training Act) program, which provided participants with minimum-wage compensation while attending school. This opportunity enabled me to earn a Drafting Technology degree in Mechanical Drafting, providing the foundation for a successful career in the construction industry.

Following graduation, I joined a local fire sprinkler contractor, where I designed life-safety systems for a wide range of facilities. In 1990, I established my own company, Fire Tech Systems, which has since grown into a successful business serving our community.

I am especially grateful that both of my daughters, Nikki Biernacki and Emily Wrenn, have joined the company and continue to play an important role in our growth and success. Their commitment reflects our family’s ongoing dedication to supporting education and workforce development within our region.

I remain deeply appreciative of the education I received at NLTCC and am excited about the institution’s future under the leadership of Dr. Spillers.”

As NLTCC continues work on Project Rebuild to Rise, the college remains focused on creating opportunities for students and strengthening the Shreveport campus for years to come. NLTCC thanks Fire Tech Systems, Inc. for supporting that work and for its continued investment in the education and training that helped shape Biernacki’s career.
