Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College will offer EMPWR Foundations, a short-term workforce training program designed to introduce students to basic skills for construction and industrial workplaces. The program will be offered October 26th through December 11th at both the Minden and Shreveport campuses.
Prospective students can learn more about the program at an upcoming open house. The Shreveport Campus will host open houses Tuesday, October 13th, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Minden Campus will host an open house Thursday, October 15th, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Click here to register.
EMPWR Foundations provides hands-on training in workplace safety, hand and power tools, blueprint reading, communication, employability skills, and safe equipment operation. Students will also complete several industry-recognized training courses and credentials. Training includes NCCER Core, OSHA 10, 3M Personal Protection Equipment, CPR, ARC Flash Awareness, workplace skills, and forklift training.
Classes will be held Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Students may choose to attend at NLTCC’s Minden Campus, located at 9500 Industrial Drive, or Shreveport Campus, located at 2010 North Market Street.
The cost of the program is $2,495, and scholarship opportunities are available.
